The auspicious day began with the Mangal Arati program in the temple, full of youths. With the introduction of the VTA in the temple, many young devotees are being provided with facilities to stay in the temple and experience Krishna Consciouness in an altogether new way. A part of the stay includes gettting to attend daily Mangal Arati. The presence of a lot of youths added a lot of energetic vibrations to the early morning program.
His Holiness Bhakti Vigna Vinash Narasimha Maharaj, following the usual custom performed the puja for Their Lordships in a very humble and concentrated manner. I must admit, that the inspiration I get from Maharaj to perform one’s service in a very dedicated and humble manner is spritually very uplifting.
Following the Mangal arati was an intense Japa session, with devotees struggling together to fix their minds on the all attractive holy names of the Lord. Japa in the association of devotees is like a smooth flowing downstream, which is very refreshing and joyful.
Then we were blessed with the beautiful darshan of Their Lordships. The common feeling amongst the assembled devotees was the pain of separation from Their Lordships, which we were to soon experience, for the coming 15 days until the day of the Rath Yatra festival.
During the Guru puja we noticed how Maharaj so expertly, asked HG Baldev prabhu (a Bramchari from Chowpatty temple, Mumabai) to give the class. The reaction from HG Baldev Prabhu was humorus, as Prabhu mentioned that it happens only outside his base temple that a Bramchari gets to give the class and a Sanyasi, senior and advanced by all standards, attends it as an audience.
I had the opportunity to be in his room as HG Baladev Prabhu displayed signs of transcendental anxiety to give class without much preparation and that too within an hours’ time. I noticed HG Baladev Prabhu immediately collected some notes and went to a seperate room to prepare for the class. It is one of his qualities, to take every service to be the most important and make the necessary preparation to give his best according to time, place and circumstance, which I would thus like to imbibe. ( Later I was told that prabhu was informed on Thursday morning to give class but as Maharaj was present there was some miscommunication )
Despite the lack of time for prepaparation HG Baldev prabhu ended up giving a captivating and wonderful class narrating various pastimes of Their lordships Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baldev and Subhadra mayi.
The Abishek Ceremony for Their Lordships, which followed the lecture, was simply joyful and heart rendering as we bathed the Deities, getting an opportunity to render some direct service. HG Baldev Prabhu’s statement added to the mood when he said that generally the main Deities don’t take part in this ceremony, but Lord Jagannath in Malaysia is very joyful and is graciously distributing His mercy. A very melodious kirtan being performed in the glorification of Their Lordships went along the Abhishek ceremony.
The devotees then again assembled to relish another round of katha by HH BVV Narasimha maharaj on some more pastimes of the Lord while the Deities were being helped with the Sringar (Deity dressing).
Finally, we had the Arati ceremony alongside some very ecstatic kirtan by devotees reviving the mood of the associates of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. It would be harsh to leave a devotee unmentioned here, who simply stood out of the kirtan being too deeply engrossed into it. The enthusiasm in the spirits of HG Gauranga Priya Prabhu(another Bramchari from Chowpatty, Mumbai) added to his ecstatic dancing steps infused energy into the whole experience of kirtan as he blissfully danced his heart out, leading and inviting all others in this blissful service of engaging all the senses for the pleasure of the Lord. The seemingly never ending kirtan thus ended after reaching its peak, as devotees made their way to honour the Prasadam feast having a nice array of preparations, which were all extremely satisfying to the heart, quite like the event as a whole.
