Gaura Purnima Festival Mayapur

To the vibrant chanting of Garuda Dandakam prayers by Balaji Swami of Tirumala Tirupati, ecstatic harinam and blowing of conch shell & ‘ulu’dvani , the Garuda flag was hoisted by HH Jayapataka Swami announcing the inauguration of Gaura Purnima festival 2009. The assembled devotees pronounced sankalpa for the success of the festival. HH Lokanatha Swami, who is attending the Mayapur Festival since 1973, carried the flag on his head to the lotus park. Nicely decorated girls of Bhakti Vedanta National School offered lamps welcoming the Lord.
HH Gopalakrsna Goswami, HH Vedavyasa Priya Swami, HH Bhakti Caitanya Swami, HH Prahladananda Swami, HH Bhakti dhira damodara Swami, HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami, HG Praghosa prabhu and many senior members of the society were present. After the flag hoisting, Jayapataka Maharaja addressed the audience briefly. Maharaja said that the devotees should take vows to absorb themselves in more chanting and other devotional services during their stay in Sri Mayapur dhama. Bhakti Caitanya Swami in his speech pointed out that we should celebrate this festival very nicely and absorb ourselves so that this light spread and transform the whole world.
Lokanatha Maharaja said that Srila Prabhupada is not only founder acarya of our society but he is also the founder of Gaura Purnima festival. He added that let us have feast for all our senses and engage it in the service of the Lord as we relish this festival, centered on Gauranga. Prahaladananda Maharaja said that this abode is audarya dhama, the most compassionate. The sweetness of vipralamba seva overflows in this dhama and urged everyone to take advantage of staying in this holy abode of Sri Caitanya. Gopal Krsna Goswami said that we should be grateful to Srila Prabhupada for gifting us with Mayapur Vrindavan festivals. This is a festival where we are spiritually rejuvenated and go back home. HH Bhakti Purusottama Swami welcomed everyone and wished them a happy stay in Mayapur. Praghosa prabhu made the whole event come alive with his anecdotes, which are quite hilarious.
